Syrian hamsters
Syrian hamster also known as teddy bear or golden hamster are one of the more common hamsters. Syrian hamsters are the biggest breed of hamster. Females are typically bigger then males. The range in weight range from 150g to 300g.
There lifespan is between 2 to 3 years.

Facts about Syrian hamster:
- They must live on their own
- They come in many different colour coats including Golden, White, Cream, Cinnamon, Sable, Black and Silver Grey
- They can have different pattern coats including; Banded, Dominant Spot, Tortoiseshell and White, Tortoiseshell, and Roan.
- Most Syrian don't like millet or mealworm so, to increase protein in their diet you will need to add herbs that contain protein also, you can give them cooked chicken

Chinese hamsters
Many make the mistake that Chinese hamsters are dwarfs but in fact they are not. Chinese hamster can be noticed by their long tail. Their lifespan is around 2 to 3 years. They weight between 30- 50 grams.

Facts about Chinese hamsters:
- Their body portion is long and thin
- There colouring are brown with a black stripe down the spine, black and grey ticks and a whitish belly.
- They are territorial so, i recommend housing them alone.
- In the wild they wouldn't hibernate, they would only wake up and collect food to take back to their borrow.
- They good at climbing and many Chinese hamsters love climbing toys
- They are less common hamster to have

Roborovski dwarf hamster
Roborovski dwarf hamster nicknamed robo dwarfs are the smallest hamster breed you can have. There lifespan is from 1 to 3 years. the weigh between 20 to 30 grams. They can be housed in pair, however, there is a chance that they can fall out.
There are many different variations of robo dwarfs:
- Agouti
- White face
- Husky
- Mottled
- Red eyes
- Black/blue
- Head spot

There typical colours are grey and white.

From my experience robo dwarfs are the hardest to tame and takes time and patience. In addition, in the wild they would live in the dessert so, it is important for them to have access to sand just like any other breed of hamster.

Campbell Russian Dwarf and Winter White dwarf
Campbells russian and winter whites come from similar families. Winter whites come about from breeding in captivity. Campbell Russian dwarf have a lifespan of 2 years and Winter White dwarfs have a lifespan of 12 months.

Winter Whites colour are sapphire, pearl and natural pearl. And based on their name in the winter their coat colour turns the colour of white.

Campbells Russian dwarfs colours are Grey, Sandy to Ginger with red eyes, as well as, they can have white patches), and also, Albino. In addition there is also the Black Eyed White, the Black and the Platinums.

Both can be kept in pairs but, there is still the possibility that they may fall out.
